    Great Property

The Fairmont Kea Lani is a great property. Very clean, very friendly staff. Location is fantastic.

    Travelers tip on local attractions

Great golf courses and local shopping within walking distance.

    Perfection in Paradise

From the moment we walked in to the time when we had to leave, our stay at the Kea Lani was perfection. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfy. The food at all the restaurants was well prepared--just the way we wanted it. They treated us like VIP’s even though we are just regular people on vacation. The Kea Lani lives up to its name. We can’t wait to go back.

    50th birthday in Maui

This hotel was awesome! I am a fan of Fairmont Hotles, and this one did not let me down. Everything from the room to the grounds to the staff were top notch. The other perfect aspect of our stay was that we arrived the day after Labor Day so the place was empty. I would reccommend this hotel to anyone plannng a trip to Maui.

    Travelers tip on dining

The food was VERY expensive so don’t hesitate to check out some places in and around the area.

    We will stay here again!

We spent our 20th anniversary here and loved it. Other reviews have said the furniture or hotel looks run down-it is located ON THE OCEAN! Nothing can look perfect for very long on the ocean! Our suite was beautiful, clean and spacious. The Ko Plantation restaurant had wonderful service and delicious food. We snorkled right off the beach. Lots of turtles and colorful fish! We took a snorkle trip out to Molikini and asked at the dive shop about other areas to snorkle. When we told them where we were staying they said the snorkling right off our hotel beach(Polo Beach) was hard to beat! We agree! The service from check in to check out was wonderful and so accomodating. The resort was almost fully booked but we never felt crowded. We did notice that the kids pool area was very crowded and children were sent early in the morning to "reserve" rows of lounges around the kids pool. Large families may get frustrated...or just enjoy the crowd! Self park you car if you want to save $20 per day but be warned that the parking slots are narrow-back in for easier parking. Leave your car at the hotel and take the complimentary car service to local (other resorts or Shops at Wailea)dining or luas. Even coming back from a large lua we didn’t wait more than ten minutes!

Travelers tip on saving a few bucks

Concierge has CDs for Hana. Stop at Costco(by airport)& Safeway(about 8 min. from hotel) and get drinks, snacks, breakfast/lunch foods. The kitchenette has a micro, fridge, several drawers, coffee maker. We ate bagels & pineapple on the lani and snacks/sandwiches for lunches. We saved money & enjoyed dinners out. Make the short drive to Fred’s Tacos in Kihei-enjoy seafood tacos w/margaritas and lovely sunsets at the beach across the street!

Can’t wait until they update so I can return

The overall resort is spectacular. The rooms are in desperate need of a renovation. The air condition didn’t work and finally after 3 calls to maintenance they offered to move us but we only had 2 nights left. The grounds were great. The cabanas were great and the staff was wonderful. We overall had a great time and will return as soon as the upgrade. I probably would return even if they didn’t but at a lower price. The rooms aren’t worth full price at the current quality. Very nice place overall in a great part of the island.

Travelers tip on saving a few bucks

The resort is pretty expensive. Save some money by hitting the Whalers General Store at the shops at Wailea. Mini fridges in the room are a great way to save a few bucks.

The Fairmont Kea Lani Ready To Go Back!

I had a great stay with the Fairmont Hotel in Wailea, Maui. Our room was prefect with amazing views, we stayed in the deluxe ocean view suite. I really felt the staff went beyond making us feel welcomed! I feel I should have stayed longer so next time I will not only stay longer but request the same room !!

One of the best resorts in Maui

We cannot say enough good things about the resort -- the pool and the beach are awesome, the staff are super friendly, and our suite was really cozy and comfortable. Lots of nice dining options abound. We shall go back there in a heartbeat!

Clean Towels and plenty. Great facility. Helpful emloyees. Great accomodation.

A Perfect Vacation Get A Way

This was our first stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani and now can not imagine staying anywhere else while on Maui. We were greeted with a cool drink and a flower lei while checking in. Our suite was wonderful. Clean, modern and spacious. It seemed that we were continually asked if we needed anything or if there was something that the staff could do for us. Mornings by the pool we were presented with cool towels and pineapple slices. We felt like we were part of the rich and famous gang and were delighted with our stay.

    Travelers tip on recreational activities

We did a snorkling trip with the Blue Water Company. The zodiac type raft held about 20 people and the guides were great. We were taken on a fun, wet ride. Shown the lava tubes and allowed to snorkle in 2 separate locations. The green turtles and the spinner dolphins came in. We were all amazed when the dolphins stayed and swam with us the entire time we were there. It was an experience of a lifetime. Can hardly wait to go back.

    No need to leave

The hotel was fantastic. Perfect location, relatively uncrowded during July 09. Ultimate venue for relaxation. Everything was highly expensive. Found the small market/deli at the hotel to be convenient and somewhat reasonable. An overall 5, except for mustiness smell in room, slow daily maid service and limited reasonably priced snacks, etc. Other than that-perfect!

My husband and I stayed at the Kea Lani for our honeymoon. The views were breath taking and the resort is great. One problem. It’s NOT cheap!!! Room service was ridiculously expensive as well as the restaurants. Be prepared to spend all your money on food (or find alternate plans food-wise). Other than that the quality of the hotel is fabulous!

    A perfect vacation!

Just got back from our 10 day stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani. What a beautiful hotel and Wailea was the perfect resort area. We upgraded to a deluxe ocean view from a partial ocean view once we saw what we’d be missing and it was totally worth the extra money. If you have young kids the pool and water slide will be a hit. My kids were 12 and 21 so they preferred the beach. Skip the breakfast buffet (really pricy) especially if you prefer a light breakfast. The deli at the hotel is a great place to get pizza and sandwiches for lunch...not cheap but delicious and convenient. Our room was really nice and the bathroom was beautiful. Loved our balcony with a perfect view of ocean and the grounds. Don’t miss out on the hotel’s free guided cayak ride/tour...but sign up as soon as you check in, they book up fast. The Kea Lani also has the best Lava Flow (Strawberry Pina Colada) in Maui...we know we tried many!!!

    Travelers tip on local attractions

Highlights of our trip - snorkeling at Molokini (loved the Four Winds Tour),ziplining (great experience with Eco-Adventures), biking down Haleakala (Bike-It-Maui was great), the Road to Hana (don’t bother with a guided tour...you can do it on your own and set your own pace), and riding the waves right on our hotel beach. Best thing I did to prepare for our first trip to Maui was read Frommer’s "Maui 2009".

We loved this resort and would not hesitate to go back. The grounds were magnificent. There is an adult pool if you don’t have any children. Service was impeccable including someone who went around the pool with cool clothes for your forehead. The restaurants were all good. Suite room was large and comfortable and great bathroom. Furnature a little tired looking but that is the only thing I can think of that was not perfect.

Travelers tip on saving a few bucks

To save money, stop at the nearby Safeway and get beer, wine, food etc. for breakfast and lunch. Then splurge for a special dinner.

Good facilities and hotel for swimming -- somewhat rough ocean for little ones

I’m a swimmer with a family including 5-year old twins. For me, this was heaven, as I have a routine each morning at home to go lap swimming early in the morning before the family wakes up, and this takes some effort as I have to drive to and from the pool and it is usually pretty cold (not the pool, the weather). At the Fairmont, all I had to do was to slip on my sandals and my swimming trunks and walk a few yards to a beautiful unoccupied (at 6 AM) pool that was perfect for lap swimming, and the weather was just wonderful. I ended up swimming several times a day after that as well, sometimes with the kids in the pool, sometimes snorkeling by myself out in the ocean. The downside of this hotel is that it was quite windy for the duration of our stay, with the main drawback being that the waves on the beach made it somewhat unpalatable to be there with 5-year olds (except very near the shore), and that it sometimes disturbed the underlying coral and fish with some choppy waters while snorkeling. There are other parts of Maui, for example when we visited Napali Kai northwest of Lahaina, where the water is much calmer even in windy weather. Even the next beach north at the Grand Palisades seems to have somewhat calmer waters, and it was worth walking up there a couple of times with the kids to be on that beach for exactly this reason.

We stayed in this hotel for our Honeymoon. It is the best hotel/resort we have ever visited. The staff always referred to me with my new married name, which I loved. The staff was always helpful and courteous. The restaurants are amazing. The water slide is great. :) The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the ceiling fans. I like to sleep with the ceiling fan on and the fan in our room (which we had two) moved incredibly slowly. I will stay at this resort whenever I visit Maui.

    Travelers tip on dining

Nick’s and Ko are both great places to eat!

    Dream Come True

This was my second stay at the Fairmont. The first was with my husband. This time I took my parents for their 58th anniversary. They had never been to Hawaii before, and they loved it. We stayed 4 days on Oahu and 4 days at the Fairmont. No contest. The room was great, view was unbelievable, and service was wonderful. I hope to be going back in Jan/Feb...wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else!

    Travelers tip on local attractions

Shopping in Lahaina was terrific, nice drive. Restaurants good too.

    First Class Resort

    Fantastic service; beautiful resort!

    Great resort hotel for families

The Fairmont Kea Lani Maui is a great hotel for families. The staff is very kind and accomodating, the pool and beach area are great, and the restaurants are "kid friendly" (though not "wallet" friendly). And even though it’s a great family hotel, it’s not too disneyland-esque, if that makes sense. There’s plenty of quiet and calm space for the grown-ups, including an adults only pool.

Nice location & beautiful Garden but room need upgrading

We stayed 3 nights @ Fairmont. The hotel is located in very nice section of Maui. Just 30 min drive from the airport. The staff gave us a nice welcome on our arrival. I booked a mountain/garden view suite, which the hotel upgraded to a partial ocean view suite. The hotel has beautiful garden with fountain and a two pools one for adult and one kids. The beach is nice and not too crowded. The only thing we were disappointed with was the cleaniness of the hotel. The rooms need real upgrading. The sofa looked quite old as well as the carpet. The food is also very expensive in Maui. Please stay away from Cheese burger Island Style restaurant. The place is a rip off. The waiter kept adding the things which we thought were free but when he brought the bill, there was a charge for everthing even a slice of avacado which we didnt eat was for $2.

    Can’t wait to go back

Kea Lani is still great but.....

The Kea Lani is sitll a great hotel, but we would not stay there again until it is updated. Yes, the rooms are suites but they look the same as they did 9 years ago last time we stayed. We went to eat at Spago and that resort is where we will stay next time , although my teenagers thought it looked too boring. There were also many kids at the Kea Lani, which is why we didn’t stay at the resort next door. The service was still great at the Kea Lani, but the it didn’t have the feel of other Fairmonts.

    A pleasant stay..

This was our first stay at the Fairmont and we enjoyed it. The resort is located in Wailea on Maui which is very lovely. We were pleasantly surprised by the lei greeting and a welcome drink. The property is well maintained and clean. Although, we found a small cockroach the first day in our room, but the room was clean, spacious, and well equipped with a mini refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The beach is relatively small but not too crowded. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. There are washers and dryers on the property that came really handy. No coin is needed. If you sign up for the presidential club, you can have free access to the internet. The hotel offers free activities like yoga classes and short canoe rides. The canoe rides get booked really quickly. We were able to sign up for a canoe ride on our last day of our stay and we really enjoyed the ride. This is not a five star hotel but I can give it a four.

    Travelers tip on dining

Finding great food at a reasonble price can be a challenge in Maui. Caffe Ciao Deli which is on the hotel property has great turkey sandwiches for $10. Cafe O’lei in Kihei had great food at a reasonable price. We also enjoyed our lunch at Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Cafe in Wailea. Just stay away from Cheeseburger Island Style restaurant. We had lunch the first day of our stay. The burgers were the worst burgers that we have ever had and the waitress was rude and unfriendly.

The best place to stay in Maui with Kids!

What can we say, great pools, huge rooms, friendly staff, and a wonderful beach. The swim up bar was fun and Nicks Fish Market was one of the best seafood restaurants we have eaten at.

Travelers tip on saving a few bucks

When you get coffee at the coffee shop in the morning...save your cup...they refill it once for free...this may be the only bargain in Maui.

Not for first time visitor to Hawaii

Hotel is definitely a resort and spa. If you are interested in exploring the island and finding reasonable places to eat this is not the hotel for you. Suites are nice but over priced. If you are on a budget you cannot afford to eat at the resort.

Travelers tip on saving a few bucks

Save a few bucks and opt for a partial view suite and eat at other locations rather than the hotel.

    highly recommended

This hotel is situated in Wailea, one of the most beautiful parts of Maui. The rooms and facilities were large, appealing and very clean. The restaurants at the hotel made it worth "staying in." The heated pools were beautiful and gave the stones throw away beach a run for it’s money. Top choice for my next stay in Wailea.
