    High expectations not exactly met

Pros: The air was clean (not smokey), the bed was super comfy, the room came with a nice soft sofa, a desk a mounted flat panel TV and a chic alarm clock, the room had a balcony with a partial view of the ocean, free valet parking for hotel guests. Cons: The elevator was slow, the type of floor in the hallways weren’t conducive to the bins that the hotel staff rolled around (made a lot of noise at inconvenient times), the hotel wouldn’t provide complimentary toothpaste, someone at the front desk gave us the wrong directions (thought southbound meant we were coming FROM the south), there was quite a lot of noise coming from parties/weddings out by the pool.

    Travelers tip on dining

You must make a trip out to Cayucos and try the Ultimate Salmon Sandwich at Ruddell’s Smokehouse!

    very nice, I’ll be back

location and views ! hotel is quite nice and the food and service is excellent. I’ll certainly be back.

    We had a great time

There is always something going on. Besides the beautiful setting, the hotel staff was amazing and the food was even better. We will be back

    Travelers tip on dining

Marisol, connected to the hotel, has amazing food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

    Great Family Resort

    We love this Resort

This is our second year back and can’t wait for November to go back...

Comfortable, beautiful, clean, elegant and very convenient.

    Travelers tip on local attractions

We are able to visit the surounding communities, Cambria, Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo and enjoy the sightseeings. My husband will not make sure he eats his clamchowder few times at the famous Splash Cafe in Pusmo Beach.

    Had a great time

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others. We were there during the week and were able to enjoy some quiet and pool time. I think weekends can get a little crowded and noisy. It seems to be a favorite spot for families. The Marisol restaurant next door has a great happy hour.

    Travelers tip on local attractions

San Luis Obispo has a nice market on Thursday evening that is worth a visit.

Beautiful view on the ocean. Nice rooms

nice Hotel to stay when you are driving from LA to San Francisco. Pismo Beach is OK when you like surfing.

    Travelers tip on recreational activities

Nice Hotel when your staying in Pismo Beach. Good place to surf nearby the hotel

Maid service was making a racket at 8am on Sat and Sun mornings

Room service was knocking on our door at 8:15am on Saturday morning.Granted we did not have the do not disturb sign on the door, but I have stayed at a lot of hotels, mainly for business and quite a bit for pleasure, and nowhere have I had room service knocking on my door at 8:15am. On top of it the maids were yelling back and forth between rooms and rolling their carts across the tile floor which is quite noisy. Sunday was the same thing except I put the sign on my door. Again room service was out cleaning an making a racket, the maids were yelling to each other from 8am to 10am. Also, rooms are not quiet as I could hear the screaming kids next door, too. It was not the relaxing stay I was looking for. I guess I can live with the screaming kids as that is just life, but the hotel can fix the maid service problem.

    We had a great experience

Our stay was just perfect. The resturant, pool side, rooms, service was A+. Not staying at this Hotel before we didn’t know what to expect. When we arrived, we were greeted with a smile and check in was fast. Our room looked over the pool and ocean view and was extremely clean. We will be going back very soon.

Dog friendly hotel with easy access to beach

If you are looking for a dog friendly hotel - this is the place to stay. The rooms are on the first floor and you can step out thru the patio door and take your dog outside. The beach is just a few steps away and again you can bring your dog and let them run. The hotel is right on the ocean and the view is spectacular. The breakfast used to be very good but has worsen, also the service is not very good. I would not recommend it. If it’s included in your hotel rate it’s ok, but don’t pay extra for it. We have never had any other meals at the hotel, so I can comment on the restaurant. Overall it’s a very nice hotel to come back to after a long beach day. Btw. the spa service is awesome. I had facials and massages and can really recommend them.

    Travelers tip on recreational activities

Go to Pismo Beach which is about 5 miles from the hotel. Nice long pier and an awesome big beach for long walks. Dogs allowed on leash. Drive down to Grover and Oceano - this is where you can drive on the beach with your car. Lots of fun!! Have dinner at Steamers of Pismo. Very good food and they have tables with ocean view (make a reservation for these).

    Terrific place

Stayed for the 4th of July weekend. The ocean/pool view -- simply awesome. Rooms were clean and staff was helpful and courteous. Definintely recommend the massage at the Spa. Parking is very limited and you will likely have to use valet parking.

    Travelers tip on dining

If you’re there on a Thursday, I recommend going to the Farmer’s Market in downtown San Luis Obispo. Terrific food and music - wonderful for the whole family.

    A paradise for dog lovers

Accomodations were fine, weather was on the cool side and foggy. It seems this is a popular place for dog owners to vacation. A lot of pets were not on lease or in control with the owners having to break up confrontations. I personally prefer not to share my breakfast on the terrace with large dogs. Otherwise staff was very attentive and the room was well appointed. I like dogs but I don’t take mine on vacation.

Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stay

ocen view is well worth it

    Lovely view, good beach access

We were looking for a couple days of relaxation and the Cliffs fit the bill. Easy beach access, nice pool area, lovely outdoor firepit for keeping warm and watching the sunset with a glass of wine. The restaurant (Marisol) was very nice, with attentive service. The only downside was that the hot tub was not hot - several guests complained, but in the 4 days we were there, it wasn’t fixed.

    Travelers tip on dining

If you want an amazing breakfast, head to SeaSide Cafe in Pismo beach (Shell Beach Road and Esparto Avenue). Amazing pancakes! Actually everything is amazing - we went 3 times in 4 days!

    good ocean views

Hotel was busy on weekend with parties and the restaurant/bar. Good access to Pismo Beach by stairway adjacent to hotel. We were charged an extra $10 per day with no benefit for us. Very nice local tourist attractions, restaurants and beautiful countryside.

    Travelers tip on local attractions

Old town San Luis Obispo and Mission were located together, the town has been renovated, good restaurants. Morro Bay, Avila Beach and their piers fun to explore.

    Nice place to stay

We really enjoyed our stay here. Good beach access and a nice warm pool with a fire pit to keep warm. We will stay there again.

Great place to relax by the beach

We checked in on Sunday afternoon, while the restaurant was still busy with their Sunday brunch. There was a wedding on the lawn by the cliffs, and the pool was shut down for maintenance. We were there to unwind after days of travel, so we didn’t mind. Room was very comfortable, internet service was included, Expedia’s rate was excellent. We could walk right down to the water’s edge to watch the sunset.

    Travelers tip on dining

The restaurant has a large bar with extended decks for beautiful views. They serve some excellent appetizers in addition to their entrees. Lots of "regulars" in the bar on Sunday afternoon and evening...very loud crowd, but we still enjoyed it.

    Family Friendly

    Very nice. Family friendly.

    Can’t wait to go back

Very comfortable --- close access to beach! Wonderful pillows!

    Beautiful view.

A very nice place to stay. Beautiful view, beach access, excellent dining experience. Hotel staff are friendly and very accomodating.

Great customer service in a great location

Have stayed here 4 times now. Keep coming back for the great service, amenities and reasonable price.

    Amazing view....

A friend had told me about this place. It is right on the beach with a beautiful view of the ocean. The pool is heated and there is a hot tub. Wish the tubs were bigger but other than that the room was spacious and clean.

    Travelers tip on local attractions

Gotta do Splash Cafe...best clam chowder ever and the Cracked Crab...great seafood at a great price.

    Clean but noisy

The hotel was nice and clean. Our room seemed to have some kind of noisy mechanical equipment above or next to us. Very noisy all day and night. Kids running around the halls at 1:30 in the morning screaming and young adults at the pool making loud noises until late in the night. Adults on the balconies at 6:20 in the morning laughing loudly and making all kinds of noise. I guess if people were more considerate, my stay may have been nicer. Overall, we thought the price was a little high compared to hotels in the area that are just as nice for less.

It was ok, but too noisy

The hotel itself is nice. My biggest complaint was with our room. Our room was on the first floor and close to the lobby. It was the noisest room I’ve ever had at a three star hotel. I could hear people in the hallway, the room next door and outside. The carpet in our room also had many large stains on it. We didn’t have a patio, as many of the other rooms did. I did like the contemporary decor in the room and the bed. The service at the hotel seemed pretty good, however I probably will not stay at this hotel again. I have stayed at several other hotels in pismo and I was not impressed with this hotel. I can pay about the same amount for a cleaner and quieter room somewhere else.

Nice place for a quick get away. Nice heated pool!

The hotel staff was friendly but checked us into a room that was already occupied. When we opened the door of our room, we saw a lady on the bed watching TV. Very awful and awkward moment. The front desk should have upgraded us for its mistake. This really ruined our initial impress of the hotel. However, we found overall stay a pleasant experience. The heated pool was a nice touch especially during the unpredictable summer weather which can often be foggy and cool. Definitely stop by the Farmers Market every Thursday night in SLO. One of the best in California.

    Travelers tip on local attractions

SLO Farmers Market; Novo Restaurant (eat in the back by the SLO Creek); SLO Downtown

    The Cliffs

Nice Hotel for a lazy weekend. The fountain around the pool is very noisy, especially in the rooms. In the evening it is hard to find a parking spot. The bathrooms are tiny.

    Travelers tip on recreational activities

Take your car to the beach, it’s fun if you don’t get stuck :-)
