Cool old train stationVery nice place. Good value for the price. Beautiful stained glass ceiling. Felt a bit deserted as it appeared there were few guests. Great food at the Irish pub across the street.Rating:5
Great HotelThe Radison Lackawanna Hotel in Scranton, PA was very comfortable and a very good value. The renovations from a train station to a 1st class hotel were great. The room was very large and the Sleep number bed was a plus. We had never had one of those beds and it was very easy to operate and gave us a great nights sleep. The restaurants were convenient and the food was excellent. We had the buffet breakfast two days and everything was presented nicely and was delicious. We also visited the Wine Bar and had dinner at th Trax bar. Great food and drink. All of the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the train station and conversion to the hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your stayWe visited the Coal Mine Tour and Museum and the Steam Town Train Museum. We should have left more time for the Train Museum. We didnt get to see the Trolley Museum nor to visit the Steam Town Mall. All of these places were a very short drive from the hotel.Rating:5
A+Great historic hotel. Sleep number bed was phenomenal.Rating:2
Worst night sleep ever!!!!!!!The beds there are the worst and the room was not very clean (not worth the price that you pay for a well established hotel) Though the interior is noce that is about all. Would never stay ther again and not recommend it.Rating:2
A good location but too expensiveI stayed at this hotel for the famed St Patricks Day Parade in Scranton. It was an excellent location for the parade. I could actually watch the parade from my room and it was within walking distance to all the local attractions. The room was very expensive. This could have been due to the demand on this night or for the "luxury" of the room. The room was not that big and nothing special to write home about. The service was good. The one thing I could not believe was the fact that we had to pay the cover for the bar that was inside the hotel even though we were guests at the hotel! Overall it was an ok room. The only thing that makes not recommend this hotel is it is VERY EXPENSIVE!!Rating:3
Shoddily Run Grand HotelPicture the Ritz Carlton taken over by the Days Inn. The service was friendly but unprofessional; we were given a room that hadnt been cleaned and then given a key that didnt work (up and down five stories with luggage twice). The railroad station/hotel conversion is awkward in spots, as we had to stand on our tiptoes to look out the windows in our room and there was a dance floor of empty space between our bed and the TV cabinet. The Sleep Number bed wasnt working properly, and other furniture and workout equipment had seen better days. Sad, because the building and its original renovation are still spectacular.Rating:4
Beautiful hotel but spartan roomsThe hotel is in excellent condition and the staff and surroundings are all excellent. My only complaint is that the rooms lack a certain aesthetic warmth. The rooms tended to be a little darker than I would like and the high ceilings with few pictures made the room feel bare. Overall a good hotel for business travelers.Rating:4
was nice hotelwould stay againRating:5
Beautiful Building, but uncomfortable bedsI was impressed with the building - it was beautiful! The facility was clean, the attendants were friendly, and the room was large and very nice. The hotel was only a short walk from the Scranton Cultural Center where the even I was attending was being held. My only complaint is that the bed was uncomfortable to sleep on - the hotel has sleep number beds, but I woke up with a backache - it may be personal, but I just couldnt get comfortable.Rating:1
A two star hotel at best. Very unhappy.Got up at 5am just to check out of hotel as soon as possible. I will never go back to this hotel.Rating:4
Why Stay Anywhere Else?Probably the best place in town to stay. Walk from hotel to downtown center.Rating:5
When in Scranton Area, Gotta Stay Here! The lobby alone is worth the price. No complaints, everything was great.
Travelers tip on local attractionsSteamtown, although hard to find, is well worth the visit.Rating:4
Classy but not pretentiousReally enjoyed my stay, would definitely go back.
Travelers tip on diningHotel dining was excellent. The food was delicious and the service was first rate. I felt pampered.Rating:3
Very underwhelming.I was disappointed with this hotel. Simple things like TV remote control, wifi internet logon, etc. did not work without assistance of the hotel staff who were borderline cheerful. I would not rush back to this hotel but, then again, I would not rush back to Scranton, PA where the hotel is located and where I went for business.Rating:5
Best place in townThe restoration of Scrantons historic Lackawana railroad station is first class. The builders managed to enhance the historic building by fitting inside of old structure a first rate modern hotel. The acomodations are excellent with a most accomodating staff. For a city of the size of Scranton, the Raddison Lacawanna Station far exceeds the cookie cutter sameness that travelers have come to expect.
Travelers tip on local attractionsSreamtown is worth a visit, but at night dont miss the teriffic "Electric City" sign.Rating:5
Ill Be Back!I really enjoyed my stay here. THe staff was well informed and they really tried to personalize their service features. Called me by first name, inquired my business day, very responsive to my needs, and even when I lost something they helped me find it right away. I really liked it and Ill be back next month..
Travelers tip for business travelersUse their shuttle service it saves the traffic tension...Rating:4
Needs workThe room we stayed in had an extremely "loud & noisy" heat / AC unit. Unfortunately we had returned very late to our room and did not want to go through the pack up & move routine. The number bed cycled every so often also. Upon checkout the clerk did say why didnt we let them know...a room switch would have been possible..
Travelers tip for business travelersAlways check operation of all units/accessories before leaving your room for a late night out.Rating:5
Classy Historic HotelHuge rooms with classy nostalgia. Hotel location is perfect. Great time, very relaxed.Rating:5
A Hotel to come back to!We loved our stay at the Lackawanna Train Station. It was much as I remembered it as a child traveling from Scranton to NY on the Phoebe Snow. Breakfast in the restaurant was spectacular. Cant wait to come back.Rating:5
Great hotel! This hotel was wondeful! Delicious food and great bed especially! Also, wonderful shower!Rating:5
A Train Station RecycledThis hotel is a rebirth of the old Lacawana train station in Scranton. It has been completely renovated with the original external and main waiting room art noveau details cleaned up. The guest rooms are standard for this class of hotel, but show touches of its early orgins with beautiful marble detailing in the bathroom. An excellent lunchtime buffet is available on teh main floor.Rating:4
satisfiedI was satisfied with the cleanliness of the hotel; however, I was annoyed with the extra parking fee sprung upon us at the end of our stay. There was no indication that we needed to pay to park in the lot.Rating:5
Great Atmosphere with History. My wife and I love the hotel. It had a great European feeling with out having to travel to Europe. It is great remind of how it was to travel by train in bygone days.
Travelers tip on getting the most out of your staySee as much of Scranton, Pa. as possible. You are surround by history.Rating:4
Very Nice PlaceThis building I believe used to be an old train station back in the day. It is now renovated into a very, very nice hotel! Details and interior are very cosy. However, I am not a fan of the sleep number bed which all rooms with king beds have.
