Disappointing but easy to remedyThe Biba Hotel is in a good location for access to West Palm Beach and environs and the onsite parking is good. The room was clean and a bit basic but ok for the price (make allowance for it being an upgrade of an old motel) and the bed was very comfortable. Disappointments however were the free WiFi did not work despite several requests to the front desk and there is no mini fridge to keep water, drinks etc cool. The hotel has a nice character to it but no WiFi and no fridge in this day and age is no good.Rating:5
Biba HotelAn old motel that the owners refurbished into a retro motel. It is attractive and clean. The bar opens a little late for vacationers and the front desk folks could stand a some training in making you feel welcome but overall it is a nice, safe fun adventure.Rating:5
Very charming hotel near the heart of West Palm Beach.cccccRating:1
Stay someplace else. This hotel is grossly overrated! It is nothing but an old crappy motel with late 80s early 90s furniture. The rooms are small and cheep feeling. The floor is nasty, the dirt was not cleaned off but looked more like they waxed over it! I would not even take off my shoes to walk around on it. The bathroom (though cleaned up) looked like it once belonged in a truck stop mens room. The "wine bar" was so GROSS! It smelled like smoke so badly, when we walked through it It made my stomach turn. I could not imagine eating BREAKFAST in there! YUCK! We ended up leaving and booking a room at a different hotel! Yep, it was that BAD! The pictures they have on their web site, look a million times better than what you get in person. I am not sure who is writing the positive reviews of this place, but seriously, book a different hotel! Do not waist you time and or money here!Rating:4
Hip HotelI had a lot of fun. The location was a little "shady", but overall it was safe and clean.Rating:4
Lots of charm and characterIf you are looking for a first-class hotel with all the amenities, Hotel Biba may not be for you. If you are looking for a place with tons of charm and local character, its perfect. Room small but clean and the bed was awesome with first-rate linens. Front desk and bar staff were super friendly and accommodating. Grounds were lovely and we enjoyed the pool each day. Great jazz in the bar Friday night, locals were very welcoming. A few upgrades would make a world of difference - floors were a bit worn, window air a little noisy. Overall we had terrific experience, would definitely return.
Travelers tip on diningNot much within walking distance, but City Place and Clematis Street a short drive with plenty of shopping and restaurantsRating:5
Wonderful and friendly hotel! My friend and I went down to West Palm for spring break and chose Biba for its reasonable pricing and good location. We were more than impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the friendliness of everyone at Biba. The bar was also a wonderful place to relax or ask about happenings around town. My only slight complaint is that the room floors were somewhat dirty because they are tile and not carpeted (for good reason because of sand), but this did not create a huge inconvenience. I highly recommend this hotel and hope to return soon!
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksIf you will be traveling by cab, call Red Lion and have cash ready. Many of the cab companies try to scam you and say that they accept credit cards when, in reality, their drivers do not understand how to use the credit card machine. Red Lions drivers are very friendly and have great rates. They even have student discounts!!Rating:3
Convenient location but with tradeoffsBiba is a cute little hotel very close to the island, but suffers from extremely humid rooms and poor air-conditioning - its easy to ignore the first day, but by the end of the weekend your clothes take the smell of the room. If they improve the air-quality I would probably go back.Rating:3
Noisythe price is right - but bring earplugs - the hotel is near Amtrak tracks - and the train whistles/passes through at 4 am.Rating:4
Fun concept, good priceThis was a refreshing change from the usual chain hotel. They have a real opportunity to take a stretch and get some better quality 1950s and 60s furniture and promote this to the baby boomers. I would definitely stay again. Perfect location!
Travelers tip for business travelersThis location is great for intown business travelers.Rating:5
A renewed motelIts a motel renovated enough to be pleasantly cozy. A flat screen TV, a queen size bed with nice quality linens and a bath with a rainshower fixture in the tub. The room was snug, but quite comfortable for a single traveller. The complimentary breakfast was a self-serve affair of granola, yogurt, orange juice , pastry and coffee - all quite tasty.Rating:2
Way overrated! A dump by any other name. This is the most overrated hotel Ive stayed in in years. No restaurant. Tiny bar, and understaffed. Breakfast was minimal, at best. In the 50s it may have been wonderful, but by todays standards, its substandard.Rating:4
Charming and Clean at a Bargain PriceQuaint retro style with large bedroom; clean and comfortable; small bathroom; intimate bar with live Jazz; pretty garden; and friendly staff. Only 2 minutes from the airport. Definitely a treasure at a bargain price.Rating:5
This was a great hotel! The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Exterior had the appearance of a 50s "motel court", but the interior was all new. Had high dollar, quality bed linens, flat screen LCD TV, very modern decor. If the room had been somewhat larger it would have been great, but this place was fantastic as it was.Rating:4
charming BUT...i would recommend this charming, pretty and fashionably designed small hotel but i would warn that it features a very noisy club near the pool area, which kept me up one night. its in a room that is also where the buffet breakfast is served, and the room STINKS of cigarettes. also the fluorescent lighting of the room was not condusive to reading. really, though, it was overall a cute, convenient place.
Travelers tipone great aspect of this hotel is that it is really near a supermarket, the very walkable historic el cid district too.Rating:3
Ok, not greatStayed 1 night after a concert. It was hard to find from the road (small sign). It looked like an apartment complex. Older rooms with bright colors. Flat screen tv was nice. Bed was not exceptionally comfortable. OK price for 1 night, although I would not go there again.Rating:4
Small & IntimateGreat boutique hotel that is well kept. Its only weakness is that its not located near anything within walking distance. However, it is close to local entertainment districts.Rating:5
COOL hotel at a GREAT pricereally enjoyed this lovely little hotel. located in a historic neighborhood a block from the bay, it is no frills but has very unique design with beautiful rustic landscaping and pool area. will definitely stay here again!
Travelers tip on shoppingtry stubbs and wooten in plam beach. they sell only mens/womens velvet dress slippers and can only be found here. very palm beach, very expensive...but very unique.Rating:5
Very Comfortable With go back again for sureThe atmosphere of the Hotel was very relaxing the people where very nice and helpful very good survice, everthing was clean and Beautiful I will definitely go back.Rating:3
BARELY 3 STARSStayed there because of price. The location is some 5 minutes from downtown. Old hotel with few frills. Area to the rear of hotel is less than desired. Trash pickup at 6:15 am literally shook my room...truck only some 30 feet away. Pool area is poor. Positive: Front desk staff very helpful and friendly.
Travelers tip for business travelersSuggest staying elsewhere as this place just gets older and older real fast.Rating:4
Comfort and RelaxationWe went to hotel Biba for our honeymoon, we booked a wonderful deal on expedia and read reviews on the hotel and thought we would give it a try. The staff was very courteous and helpful, and the hotel was wonderful. It was very private and quiet. No loud noise, we had read about the noise near the bar area and fortunatley had a room away from it and were not bothered by anyone. The pool was beautiful and everytime we went in we were the only ones there. The continental breakfast was light and healthy and delicious. We were able to eat in one of the gardens every morning it was so relaxing. We rented bikes and rode the mile and a half to the beach and it was great. The hotel is older but renovated so if you are used to really expensive top line hotels, this isnt for you, it is perfect for someone trying to get away to a peacful retreat and doesnt have tons of money to blow on overpriced rooms. We had a wonderful time and would stay again.Rating:2
Uncomfortable and DisappointingThe Biba looks good online but in reality it is on the shabby side. The rooms were small and lacked storage space. The maid service was fair at best. The common areas lacked any comfortable furniture at all and to top it off we had to alert the front desk that there were 2 dead rats lodged in the fence by the pool. I would not return.Rating:4
Biba ComfortOverall, the hotel staff were pretty nice and helpful. I thought the rooms were going to be a little nicer than they were. Pool was great to swim in and overall it was a nice quiet place to spend a few days during spring break!Rating:4
Good Value in the AreaHotel Biba is well situated in WPB, closest hotel to the Clematis area. One block from Flagler Drive for the best views along the Intracoastal Waterway. Minimalism is the key at this hotel. Continental breakfast is wonderful. Best sushi place In WPB is directly across the street. The grounds are impeccably maintained. Bar are is quite nice. The rooms need throw rugs, new showers. Caution: A/C unit, no central air. Could use a fan in rooms. Beds are comfortable. Would return.
Travelers tip on saving a few bucksBest value for the money in the area, without question.Rating:2
